Using Your School's Curriculum
We utilize your child's school curriculum; textbooks, worksheets, homework and projects. We ask questions to help your student think, create, and discover while learning. When necessary with your permission, we will contact their teachers, to be sure they are "on track" and we are in tandem with what is happening in the classroom. Our tutors will also bring enrichment material to reinforce concepts and applications for maximum retention.
ELEMENTARY:
We tutor all subjects in Elementary school including the Common Core Curriculum. Our tutors make the subject matter motivating, fun and interactive. Based on experience with thousands of families, the focus for tutoring sessions is on phonics, sight words, basic math skills, reading comprehension and retention, creative writing and penmanship. At this level we help prepare your child for optimal learning. Remember, we tutor to your child’s strength in learning. The more senses we utilize in learning, the higher the comprehension and retention. We will tutor whatever is necessary – whether it’s just homework support, or reading with your child to form good habits in their early years. We help your student become THEIR best!
MIDDLE SCHOOL:
We tutor all subjects in Middle School including Honors classes, focusing on study skills, time management, organizational skills, and test taking strategies. Many middle school students become overwhelmed adapting to different teachers and changing class periods. Our tutors will mentor them in adjusting to change and different teaching styles. Subjects we tutor in Middle School include all levels of Math, Earth Science, Health Science, Life Science, Physical Science, Language Arts, Technology, American History, World History, Ancient History and more. In sixth grade, Critical Research and Writing skills are essential for reports.
HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE
Our focus in High School and College is on subject matter. Being able to think and apply concepts, not just plow through homework, is essential. At no time will a tutor complete homework for a student. We foster independence, discovery, and creativity in students. We give them the academic skills needed to tackle homework and prepare for exams. Becoming an independent learner is key.
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Many of our tutors are Credentialed Special Education teachers or are graduate students working on their Master’s Degree in Special Education and Child Development. We frequently work closely with students who are struggling and need to be taught a “different” way. We will work with your child’s IEP goals and assist in any way possible to alleviate the stress and struggles associated with homework. Our tutors become mentors and their students become accountable to them to complete homework. This takes the parent off the hot seat providing a much needed respite for Mom and Dad to focus on parenting not contending with school work!
